Originally from the Greater Philadelphia area, Katie made her way to the Boston area by way of Wheaton College (MA) where she studied music with a concentration in vocal performance. Her mother, Lauren Anderson, is an avid choral singer in Sing City Choir Philadelphia, an ensemble with deep ties to Katie's family. Katie began singing in grade school, but properly fell in love with choir at Germantown Friends School under the direction of the esteemed music educator, Larry Hoenig. Katie continued exploring this passion at Wheaton College and later toured the world (Brasil, the former Yugoslavia, and South Africa) with Singing City Choir as a soprano soloist. Outside of teaching and singing choral music, Katie is a songwriter, solo performer and recording artist. She released her EP, Perfect June in 2015 and three subsequent singles including "First Sight" in 2020. Katie also enjoys theater, and most recently played Eliza Doolittle in a local production of My Fair Lady at Stage 284 in Hamilton, MA in 2018. Katie lives with her husband and two young sons. She enjoys playing with her kids, cooking, and spending time with friends. |
